24 Soul Judgment
Satan, the serpent of Eden, now grown into a great dragon, is bound and thrown by an angel into an Abyss that is locked and sealed. Before a great white throne stand those who have died. Books are opened and also the Book of Life. Each person’s life is judged according to what they have done, and if their name is not found in the Book of Life they are thrown into the lake of fire.
Divine love does not condemn – much less destroy – those who are loved. Nonetheless the time comes when we have to face up to who we are and the way our life has been lived. We need to make an honest assessment of ourselves – the choices we have freely made, and what we have done with our lives as a result. We see ourselves for who we really are. Standing in the light of truth without pretence or excuses may be hard, but with God’s help it is a self-judgment we simply have to make.
“I saw the dead, great and small, standing before the throne, and books were opened. Another book was opened, which is the book of life. The dead were judged according to what they had done.”
(chapter 20 verse 12)
