26 Guiding Angel

An angel guide says to John, “Come, I will show you the bride, the wife of the Lamb”. He then sees the Holy City from a mountain top and is shown its wonders, including the river of the water of life flowing through the city, and on each bank the tree of life bearing twelve kinds of fruit, and leaves for the healing of the nations.

Here is a picture reminding us of the many ways the angels of God guard and guide us in our lives. Generally, we are only aware that the positive and constructive thoughts and feelings that such angels encourage us to respond to are aspects of our own inner world. Occasionally, however, we become aware of exceeding our expectations of ourselves, of seeing past the outer appearance to the essence of life. On occasions such as this we can feel closer to God and more aware of the life He intends us to experience. It is an experience closer to the flow of life that John saw pictured in his vision of the New Jerusalem.

“Then the angel showed me the river of the water of life, as clear as crystal, flowing from the throne of God and of the Lamb …. On each side of the river stood the tree of life, bearing twelve crops of fruit.”

(chapter 22 verses 1 and 2)
