1 Christ Manifesting

The apostle John is living on the island of Patmos. On the Lord’s day his spiritual eyes are opened and he is able to see into the Spiritual World. He is told to write down what he sees and send it to the seven churches.

In this illustration, John sees a human figure whom he describes to be like a Son of Man. This is the risen Christ. At first John is terrified and falls at His feet, but is told not to be afraid.

This vision sets the scene for what follows in the whole book. The Book of Revelation is describing the universal process by which what is good in a person is separated from what is bad. All of this is under the control of the loving and wise risen Christ seen by John.

“I turned round to see the voice that was speaking to me. And when I turned I saw seven golden lampstands, and among the lampstands was someone ‘like a son of man’, dressed in a robe reaching down to his feet and with a golden sash round his chest.”
